BIOGRAPHY

Ron Fortuna formerly worked as an advisory teacher for Northamptonshire County Council’s Autistic Spectrum Team.

He founded the Designated Special Provision for autism at Caroline Chisholm School in Northampton. Ron has over 20 years of experience teaching, training and supporting staff and young people in both mainstream and specialist settings, and has an MA in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion. He has been an Associate Lecturer for the University of Northampton and was a contributing author to Supporting Pupils on the Autism Spectrum: Whole-school training materials and resources for Sencos by Optimus Publishing (2013). He has been published in the journal Support for Learning and The Teacher magazine. He has been trained in TEACCH, PECS and SCERTS methods. He was the recipient of the 2008 Walter Hines Page Scholarship, allowing him the opportunity to study social skills training methods for children with autism in the USA.

Ron is involved in developing and conducting training for parents, schools, adult care homes and social workers. Additionally, he provides a consultation service to schools and assists professionals in assessing children for autism.

For the past 3 years he has worked as an Autism Consultant and Company Director of Target Autism Training and Consultancy Ltd.
